Commercial rate vs. what you actually pay
The rate shown here is the commercial (mid-market) rate — the one you see in the news. When you exchange money at a bank, card or exchange office, they add a spread (usually 1% to 6%) plus possible taxes and fees. Use this converter to know the fair reference value and to compare how much each service is really charging you on top of it.
Tips for travelers and online shoppers
For international purchases, cards usually apply the rate of the day the purchase is processed, not the day you bought. For travel money, compare the total cost (rate + fees) rather than the advertised rate alone. And remember rates change every day — for large amounts, a few days of difference can matter.
